As McDonald’s reopens all 924 of its drive-thru restaurants in the U.K. and gradually restarts delivery at many of its sites, workers and unions are questioning whether it is safe for employees to return and whether social-distancing rules will be possible to follow in tight kitchens. With its reopening, a significant portion of its employees face the difficult choice of becoming increasingly vulnerable to COVID-19 or continuing to experience financial hardship.
